Minas Again

Post by OneOldMan on Tue Apr 08, 2014 6:13 pm

I know the rules concerning this map is that you can pj to kill but not advance.  Not happening.  Twice tonight backplants gates 2 and 3, no one seems to know who.  The rules are being stretched a bit when allies first spawn at a gate and there are already 2 or 3 axis waiting with arty or gas and suddenly the gate gets planted.  This map is a PITA for admins to watch.  I can understand the frustration for axis when allies are the weaker team but can't advance and backplanting begins to happen.  A few players love to jump to higher levels and panzer down but I don't think they realize they are shorting their team trying to get to the gate.  When you have 6 or 7 axis and 3 are above panzering that leaves 3 or 4 against 6 or 7 allied.  Hard for them on that map. I listened to an admin the other night open chat about those panzering down and not helping their own team to advance.  I know this map is well liked by a few players but personally I don't play it unless a team is very weak.  There are a few players whom I would rather play against than with on axis since they will immediately pj up to higher levels leaving a couple to play the map.  I know this will probably go nowhere but I just had to rant.   Mad

I'm guilty of being someone who climbs upper levels to rain panzers on opponents below. Yeah, I know it's not helping my team...but it's so fun to watch my targets fly off the wall and fall to their doom. I can't help it. I've tried to quit, be responsible, and help my team, but I can't. Minas is too fun.

Something should be mentioned here. This server has not evolved as a teamplay server. It is, and always has been, in my opinion, a frag server. I would also prefer more teamplay. But, if you wish in one hand and spit in the other, all you get is wet fingers!

That's a good point, Valk. I guess a frag server is what you have when every soldier is basically a superhuman. Super speed, super jump, super tough, and super gorgeous.

I just left Minas.  The teams started even then all the regular TJ types jumped to axis and now it's 7 axis 1 allies.  Not a fun way to play a map.  I don't even hang around when it gets like that.  No longer fun.  One problem is that when you first spawn at a new location you have gas and panzers waiting for you.  I gets frustrating.  But rules are rules or I would start freezing the jumpers.

BWT  - those jumping up would be so bad if they actually helped the engies by killing allies... but they tend to just mess around and randomly kill... so if you are an axis engie... it is a frustrating struggle... (as noted above)

But all in all... I do love this map
