Trak balls Empty Trak balls

Post by Twisted Mon Sep 22, 2014 12:00 pm

My Dr. has told me I need to start using a track ball instead of a regular mouse.
Has anyone tried to use one with ET?

I have not tried it but think it would be almost impossible.
Another option is to set up a game controller on your computer.
I have a ancient logitech wingman cordless controller I do not use, but I do not know if there is new software for windows 7 or 8 for the device.   Research it and if you want mine let me know.

I think trackballs would be super sensitive for this game, wouldn't they?

This is twisted. I found one on Ebay with 4 buttons. I have a 5 button now. That means I'll lose one and have to rebind the 5th to a key.

I got a wrist Orthosis today and find I cannot use my 5 button mouse with it on. This really sux. I love to play and have been most times playing even with my pain. It has a lot to do with why I suck so bad in game.
Thanks for the offer Friedrich. However if I remember correctly, there is another thread about using game controllers with ET. And it said that ET well not use a game controller. The game is set up for a mouse with up to 5 buttons.
It would be nice though. Oh and cordless creates lag.
I really don't know how the track ball mouse well help. I'm thinking about just keeping my old 5 button.  Because once I get the surgery on my neck the pain in my arm well be gone. And I'll have full use of it. I Hope! The corporal tunnel, well I'll have to live with. I'll have to think about it more. My wrist does not hurt any wheres near as bad as my arm. And I may be able to get me a mouse pad with a wrist cushion on it. And that may help a lot. Yea I think a new mouse pad well be my first thing to try.
Thanks for all your replies my friends.

My friend uses a trackball thingy, but he isn't an especially brilliant player. I think it's probably just a matter of getting used to it. I mean, it should be as accurate/stable as a decent mouse.
Btw, does anyone know what's happened to Bama?
He ain't been around recently, and I miss his mass-slaughter lessons, lol.

Haven't seen Bama, or Maria come to think of it, around for a while. Maybe they eloped?

Lol, maybe. Maybe they're on honeymoon right now!

Very Happy

Oops!  I forgot to say that my friend uses his trackball for 3D shootemups.
It seems to be as good as a mouse when you get used to it, but I hate trying his.

He got trackball for more or less the same reason - he has to use a mouse quite a lot at work.
Using a mouse at home also was too much for his wrist, so he got a trackball to kinda even-out the wear and tear.

Bama was recently witnessed in FBY Beginner, conducting his usual round of slaughter Smile

I am using a Logitech Trackball for ages, and I love it.
After tossing a few glasses over the keyboard with rapid mouse-movement and destroying my keyboard I tried the trackbal and got used to it so fast, I miss them when I am at work....

Using a Logitech Wireless Trackball M570 at the moment.
