Unpure client detected... invalid .PK3 files

I tried to play tonight and got this error message

"unpure client detected.... invalid .PK3 files referenced"

I've been playing here for a while now, I did the new ETKey thing, again, and I'm still getting this error.

I've gotten it here before, but usually a computer restart fixed it in the past. Any ideas?

Sometimes when you visit other sites you can pick up .pk3 files that have been modified from the original or the version used on Funboy. Also, you might have got modified files on funboy long ago. Obituary went through and replaced any modified maps with the original versions some months ago.

The reason for this is people modify the files and do not change the file name, so you visit a site with a different version of the map file and it gets downloaded to your system.

My suggestion is that you see what map causes you to have the error and go into Jaymod and delete any .pk3 files with that map name. When you reconnect to Funboy the version being used will automatically download to replace the ones you deleted.

If This is too much trouble or you do not know how to delete the files just delete ET and load a fresh copy. Be aware that this can happen again if you play on different servers. Friedrich

I haven't played on any other server since the last time I played (Sunday). Lately this has been the only server I've played on. I played through the hole map rotation a couple times with no issues.

For whatever is causing the problem the solution is still the same. Delete the .pk3 files that are causing the problem.

In another thread Obituary suggests that you delete the Jaymod folder instead of completely reloading ET, if you do not know how to find and delete the bad files.

When you connect to Funboy a new Jaymod folder will be created and the current maps will automatically download. Friedrich

The problem turned out to be a server issue. You were not the only one having connection problems. Obituary fixed it. You should be fine now.
