Admin abuse

Our clan has been playing off an on for a long time, and we always had a good relationship with your guys. I am usually not one to go on someones server and cause trouble or complain. Tonight I was playing on Funboy (beginner) server with two of my ABC mates, along with three of your guys Lonestar, Madcow and Beavis.

I worked very hard as the only engineer to capture the tank and move it over the bridge, blow up the barrier and move the tank to the building until it blew a hole in the wall. I got killed then, and tried three times to get back to that building until I was able to pick up the papers and try to make it to the boat.

One of your admins ( Beavis ) used his admin rights to blow me up and claim I was not adhering to your rules, that we can not grab the papers before the wall was blown. He even admitted that he was not sure it had been blown but used his admin rights anyway. Beavis then keep accusing me of picking up the papers before the tank blew the wall to cover his mistake.

I don't think it is fair that an admin is so reckless with his admin rights and is not paying attention to the game to know I was right. I left the server, but my mates told me that beavis kept yelling that I was abusing your rules to the point my friends could not play. Lonestar and Madcow also took up for him saying he did not know the wall was blown. I don't think it was fair.

I know we have always been welcome and I also know that some of you have visited our server from time to time, and we always have respected your clan. I am not asking for much, just the knowledge that Beavis will admit he was wrong and should not have acted in public as he did. Thank you for your time.

1. I welcome ALL players to enjoy our servers, and encourage other clan and non-clan players to have fun with our games.

2. We only have a few rules, but some players don't know, forget about, or ignore them sometimes, so we need to remind them.

3. What I'm stating here can be verified by other FBY members who were also playing, and by the chat transcripts on the servers.

4. An ABC player (I believed it to be Joker) originally rushed a map by jumping a wall and grabbing the objective, so I splatted him.

5. Joker complained that he had been splatted, so I explained that I splatted him because I thought he was rushing the map.

6. Joker claimed that it was not him, so I apologized for mistaking him for another ABC player who rushed (we were on the same team).

7. I reminded players not to rush the maps, the game continued and eventually Joker left. His buddy ABC-Stealthbob kept on playing.

8. ABC-Stealthbob admitted later during a chat that an ABC player had rushed on the previous map, as the chat logs will show.

9. I was not reckless with my admin rights, and acted in the best interest of preserving the game, but Joker can't see this.

10. If Joker did not rush the map, then one of his ABC buddies did, so he should be mad at them and not me.

What a joke...

I am an admin on our servers also. I take great pride that my clan thinks enough of me to allow me to be an admin. If you read your post you will see that you made the mistake and did say your sorry, but in short order took it back and accused me again. It does not matter if one of my friends did it first, he was not aware of your rule and when you first told him he stopped.

The facts are, I and I alone moved the the tank the entire distance and under a lot of fire. I got the tank to blow a hole in the wall, and tried and died 3 times to get the papers. My reward was for you to splat me. The fact that he did it one time makes no difference he did not know your rule, so you should not be mad at him. The main thing I am pissed at is you were not aware of what was going on during the game and splatted me well after the wall was blown. If that is how you treat people then I am sorry for you and your clan. It is not fair play and we did no wrong, you did and I am not the Joke you are, why don't you grow up, grow a pair of balls and admit you were wrong, end of story.

Not to mention he recently muted me for telling a player a decent comment.
In this case a reasonable comment which I know isnt breaking any rules.
And spams rules like everyone has a reading impairment.
Theres a banner for that and spec if needed for suspicious behavior.

THE OBJECTIVE WAS RUSHED. ADMIN KILLED THE OFFENDER.The reason the rules were spammed is because they continued to rush the objective. There was only one splat that was not earned. Beavis said he was sorry. Then all the ABC members bitched for the next 15 minutes. All 3 admins were trying to calm y'all down. You did not want to be appeased, you just wanted to keep complaining The mods allow for alot of asshats that break the rules. Its an ongoing battle. We made a mistake that we tried to make right.

I would like to first say I am sorry for making such a scene over this, I know it may seem like a trivial thing and not worth all these post. I think I got caught up in the fact that I was able to, under heavy fire, capture the tank, move the tank, blow the barrier, and the wall, but was denied a win because of a mistake by an admin. I also know that Beavis did say he was sorry but in short order took it back and even after I left he kept saying I had rushed the objective.

I know that during a fierce battle which we had, things can get tough to manage, and I am an admin that also sticks to the rules and demands visitors to respect our rules and admins. If I may offer some advise please continue to keep the rules in tact, but you might want to give a little space to people who are unaware of certain rules and not react so fast. I don't have a problem with the spamming of the rules because I do miss some message on the screen when in battle.

I take the other guys post to understand that Beavis has had a reputation of reacting swiftly when maybe a little time would be more wise. Our Clan has always enjoyed our visits to your great servers and would like to extend my hand in apology to yourclan for my outburst. I would hope your great players would come to our server again, and I also hope that my mates and mostly myself would be welcome back to your server. We believe in Fun and fair play as I know you guys do also. This game is slowing down more and more everyday, lets not let a little problem cause unwanted grief between our clans.

To Beavis: Please accept my apology as I accept yours. I think we both got caught up in the fierce battle between two good clans. ABC always demands total respect of our admins and I agree I may have pushed that by arguing in public.

Lonestar, thank you for the support and the summary of events.

If I see a new player rushing the map, then I will splat them (to preserve the game for the opposite team), and then educate them via public messages (if there are other new players present who may also not know the rules) or private messages. This was the case yesterday.

If I see a regular player (who already knows the rules) rushing the map, then I will either kick or ban them, based on their previous behavior and history.

I did not abuse my admin privileges. I splatted Joker once by accident in the middle of a game (in a rush to keep the game from ending), and after being informed by Joker that he was not responsible, I assumed my mistake and apologized to Joker multiple times publicly so all could see. It is easy to understand how this mistake was made, since both players had names that started with ABC.

If I had splatted Joker on purpose for no valid reason, then that would be considered abuse of admin privileges. That was not the case.

As far as being flexible with regards to taking action against offending players, I believe I'm very fair. With the exception of players who rush the maps (as noted above), I usually give offending players multiple chances to make things right before taking action against them. Other FBY clan members will vouch for me on this topic, as well as other players, including ABC-Gunner (who has taken the time to post on this forum supporting my actions in dealing with offending players).

In addition to players who abuse or ignore our few rules, we also do not appreciate it when players are abusive towards FBY admins. Joker was disrespectful towards me yesterday during the game via public messages and in a public post above (by joker2 Today at 2:21 am). There was at least 1 FBY admin who wanted to take action against Joker yesterday, but I prevented that from happening...

I can understand that sometimes players get way too involved in games (I've been there too), but we should not forget that we play to have fun, and that everybody is human and can make mistakes (such as a player not following a rule, or an admin splatting a player by accident). If you were splatted by accident go back and have fun.

Speedy, if you have something to say, then by all means say it. If you choose to post something about me or any other player, then I would like to suggest that you start a new thread to keep it separate from this one. I believe there are lot of players here than will also have things to say about you, so it would be good to keep it separate from this thread.

In response to your post above:

1. I don't know why anyone (myself included) would have muted you for "telling a player a decent comment". That makes no sense.

2. If I post rules multiple times during a game, then its because there are always players who choose to ignore the rules for certain maps, or because I think there is a need to inform or remind players about them. I sometimes don't post any rules, and sometimes post them once, only to have a player break them later and ruin a game for everyone (Minas is a good example). If you're such an experienced player, then take the high road and ignore the multiple rules postings.

Having said that, I take no offense at what has been stated, and look forward to playing with (and killing) ABC members, Speedy and others on our FBY servers.

I tried to be nice, but that is over, I can not believe how incredibly ignorant you are. You still keep attacking me over and over. I am 60 years old and don't need your server, friendship or evil words. Tell me how I abused you in the server. I want to see the details from the server. All I did was make it clear to your butthead self that you were wrong. Get a life, grow up and die as far as I care. You are a power hungry ass!!!. I bet you beat your dog, kids and wife if your lucky enough to have them which I doubt.

I have to chime in as well and say that this is much ado about nothing!!! All parties need to take a chill pill and step back a little. This looks like it is getting totally blown out of proportion. I enjoy playing with the ABC Clan members as well, most are very nice and are excellent players who follow the rules with no problems. I wish them well myself and like to see them play here also.

I agree completely. This is how wars start. There is a need for forgiveness here. ABC clan are brothers in arms and a decent bunch of lads. Good players all and never trouble anyone. lets not have anger estrange us all. I speak from experience in this matter and would encourage all involved to be careful of prideful reaction disguised as righteous indignation. I believe Beavis apology is genuine. So give him a mulligan and go from there.

I have nothing against the ABC clan, I enjoy playing against them on our servers, and I have no desire to start a war with them.

I am not angry, insulted, or offended by anyone. I hold no grudges against offending players, or players who try to insult or offend me.

I've been objective, civil and mature in my games and my posts on this forum. I've behaved the same way as an admin dealing with players.

The only thing I've done is respond in a factual and mature manner to the accusations made against me. I stand by my actions and words.

As for my observations of your trolling attempts, I just wanted to point out that they're lame and not productive.

As for your "skills", it's interesting how they differ significantly when you're playing on Beginner versus FS or BS...

I'm all about fair play (this is why this thread started), so bring it on!

OK I read the whole server log for the last week and this non-event was in there.

I didn't see anything in there worth taking any administrative action over, just some back and forth accusations of rushing, and some excessive admin behavior from our members, resulting from the rushing. Nothing worth a ban though.

I have removed most of the maps that get rushed for good to stop this problem. This should reduce the need for all the splatting and endless admin warnings to not rush the maps to the players who don't listen anyway.

I'll be the better man and admit that I have been an asshat and I'll opologize for doing the gangnam on beavis. Most of it was sarcasm to push his buttons cause he is abit too self centered so Its the norm for some of us I guess. It is what it is beav hope we can come to terms.

Evening all, Gunner here, or should I more accurately state !ABC! Gunner.

1. I have no clue who or what was said or who did what to who, BUT, I do know a few things...

a. No one should ever discuss this kind of thing in open forums, FBY use Teamspeak ABC use Ventrilo, clans should use these more often, there great tools. There may have been a simple understanding which could easily have been sorted, with a little chat in real time, or at the very least a personal message. Its very easy to forget that forum posts have no emotion attached to them, they are cold and clinical and can easily be taken the wrong way..

(for instance) Beavis you are a tart....

Now, both Beavis and I know that I mean that as a term of indearment, I abuse him, he abuses me, BUT, anyone not in the know might think something more serious is going on, infact its a standing piece of witty banter!

b. Both ABC and FBY are great servers, I have taken the time to load up TS and its nice to extend my ET family out and speak to other like minded individuals, and long may it continue.

c. I am never going to come on here and poach FBY members, NEVER, but, if you ever fancy a game on the Silent server we have, FBY members are welcome without exception...

d. It seems to have sorted itself out, thats great to see, Joker and Stealthbob are trusted friends, I also count people like Manic, Beavis, Lonestar , Friedrich and Lance as my new ones, apologies if I have missed out any FBY people, those 5 names just sprung to mine. Its good to see things are starting to settle and long may it continue.

e. Tossing the last hand grenade in a forum post just continues it, say what needs to be said and stick a full stop at the end.

Yes I know freedom of speech is important,, yes I know FBY is not my clan, BUT, I still have an opinion, and that opinion is that nothing good will come from haveing these type of issues continuing.
