2012-12-29 Map Cycle

To reduce the lag, I have set the omnibots down to 12 on every map and the gamespeed down from 400 to the default speed of 320 (running the game faster makes it lag more than at the normal speed, for obvious reasons).

since that change, did you add any enhancement, because the display changed *(fonts/hud) and the game is pretty laggy when i'm speccing. i have my own setup to minimal as i want speed instead of great visual, so i'm on 800x640, and it is still laggy.

Yes I also added the RTCW font. It is the same file that is running on Flight School for a long time now. It shouldn't have anything to do with lag.


I have noticed a bit more lag lately, you're not alone, and that is why I reduced the gamespeed and the bots and removed the more laggy maps.


You can try working on your config to get better performance. If you don't want to deal with a config, try typing these commands into your console (type / in front of each one). You may have to restart the game (use /vidrestart).


seta cl_packetdup 0
seta cg_optimizedprediction 0
seta cg_smoothclients 0
seta com_hunkmegs 128 (or higher if you have lots of RAM)
seta rate 25000
seta pb_sleep 500

yeah, all these seta are available in the Setup menu... don't know if you have it on Windows, but on Mac we have it! Wink

I new to most of these maps.. seems like I'm a fish out of water. Also, I do prefer the faster game play, but can understand the need for no lag.

Time for a server upgrade?? Laughing
